No telling how many illegitimate items are circulating right now and honestly, anything you own could be a direct result of someone's 30sec duping process...
Ecto has already been flooded into the market, the demand for the gems to make Vabbian armor isn't high enough (you never see anyone selling something for 100k+ 10 diamonds [at least i havent]), Green and Gold weapons aren't stackable. I'm sure other stupid things have been duped, but I'm also sure that everything else is minor compared to the masses of Armbraces now in the game, and virtually impossible to track.

Well I sure hope Anet has something in their bag to detect, remove all the duped stuff and kick the f*** out of the game all these dupers.

I dunno if you have power in this section of the forum, but if you do, you could change the thread title for one more appropriate of the situation.

Guys, wether you like it or not, this has been going on for a long time, maybe even since reconnects began.

Just one thing, since people REALLY haven't known about it until now, then, hell, your sword, or bow or staff could be a duped item, and for the last 2-4 months this hasn't REALLY effected the economy, so how does knowing it has been happening effect it? nothing Really.

Props the person who found the bug, but shame on you for not reporting, you have cause a terrible chain of events.

so. once it's evident that ppl could dupe anything exploiting reconnects, there are few things to do to control damage.

remove reconnects so no more items are duped. D O N E
customize armbraces as it's the most widely duped item.
ban all the ppl who had been relogging over and over the last few days or weeks.
if many ppl besides the koreans used this exploit the last 2 days, then roll back 3 days.

A rollback would be a disaster. Plus, if they were even thinking about a rollback, they'd either shut the game down temporarily (while they figure it out), or at least tell everyone that they are considering it, to prepare everyone that anything they do from now on might not amount to anything since it would reverse.

Top priority is probably fixing the ability to log in from a different computer and still be considered "disconnected" from the instance you left. That way re-connects could be re-instated and this dupe thing is squashed.

Next? Ban the exploiters, well, once you find 'em. After that? No idea. This is a huge mess, but I'm sure they have enough resources to determine how big of a mess it really is, and what measures to take to fix it, or just let GW take one for the team.

Down, but not out, hopefully.

I have some of the rare ones. I know how hard are they to come by. But the point is that some of them were offering absurd amounts of ectos/armbraces for not so rare miniptes like yeti, naga and oni. I truly believe some of them already had them.

In any case, I'd love to see how this turns out.

for those of you who think this is only armbraces, please stop being so naive. if you discovered this exploit what is the first thing you would dupe? armbraces? a highend item very hard to sell since many people dont have enough ectos or perhaps...the ectos themselves. think how many ectos are floating around on some of these dupers' accounts. the only reason they started doing mass volume armbraces is for the minipets to dupe. these minipets are the RAREST items in the game, and most sought after right now especially with the bonuses they afford through GWEN. so they super duped armbraces to easily entice minipet owners to sell.

1: Done
2: Unfair to those who traded minipets for armbraces
3: Thats the stupidest thing I've ever heard
4: Thats racist

No. Those doing simple texture mods (which are permitted) would be wrongfully banned (there's a lot of logging in and out when modding).

Need 3 people. Easy as pie.

there would be a "duper tree" of transactions so long that it would take anet forever to track down the source.

if this has indeed happening for over a month, just imagine all the people directly or indirectly connected to a dupers original transaction.

You had two computers, and logged in, booting off the other account, and duplicating something somehow, from what i can figure, then reconnected. Rinse and repeat.

Yeah, except for one thing, the majority of GW players dont even KNOW what an armbrace of truth is. I know what it is and I have a fair bit of cash but I've not had one or wanted one.

Exploit or not, if this was true and a problem then it needs to be fixed and will be fixed asap, I dont know why you'd even imagine it wouldnt be *shrug*
